“Drone Strike (b/w Detritus)” is the debut single from Bad Swordfish, the brainchild of Brad Skafish, veteran frontman of punk acts like the Figbeats, Hidden Dangers, and Forgotten Four. “Drone Strike” sets the scene by deploying shock and awe in a sleazy tale that speaks to love gone wrong in the surveillance state. Sonically the rock roots are present but contorted. Think Joy Division, think The Faint, think This Is Radio Clash. Better yet – don’t think at all. Empty your mind and get on your feet like these are your last three minutes because they might be.

B-side “Detritus” is a seductive earworm that says much while saying little. Or perhaps it’s the other way around. Labelmates Jaded Lover throw a couple of EBM cyborgs from your post-apocalyptic nightmares into their “Sifting Through The Ashes Mix” to round out the single.

If there is a message here, it may just be “F*** the message, let’s dance!” and who are you to say no? -B.S./M.W.

If there is a message on Detritus, it may just be F*** the message, let’s dance!
